Blackjack Basics – Part One

The general concept of the game is to be handed cards totaling up to 21. Each black jack player is dealt two cards. When a player is handed a nine or lower value card and an Ace they’ve been given a soft hand. When the gambler receives no Ace cards it is called as a hard hand. Once the cards have been dealt every player at the blackjack table, which includes the dealer, each blackjack player is provided the opportunity to make 1 of six decisions:

Requesting another card (Hit): When a gambler announces hit me the croupier will give him another card, if the addition of that card causes the total greater than twenty-one the gambler will have busted and that’s the end of the game, if the card pushes the total to twenty one the black jack player will be the winner and if the value of the hand has not yet reached 21 they are still in the game.

Keeping the hand you’ve been given: If a black jack player is satisfied with the cards they will stand. Once this has happened the dealer will disclose his or her cards and the gambler who has gotten twenty-one or the nearest to twenty-one will acquire a win.

Doubling Down: A blackjack player might request to double down which increases the bet by 100% they have laid. Once you’ve taken this procedure you can only be given one additional card. The specifics of doubling down are normally specified by the blackjack table or casino rules so prior to competing make certain you’re comfortable with the casino game rules. If you are betting at a web casino this is usually quite simple.
